And you really expected it to be open water?  It will still be a week or two before you start seeing water flowing

#319499 Toronto trip

Steelhead will still be in the rivers and fishable for sure.  I am sure there will still be a lot of open rivers and plenty of fish to catch come December.  That is when I start to enjoy the rivers more.  Less crowds, and cold weather.   Might just have to slow it down a bit and fish a bit deeper with egg patterns (beads or yarn) and nymphs.  Tandem rigs with indicators work well

#316843 It Makes Us All Look Bad

Posted by JDean on 29 September 2014 - 11:16 AM

I should have taken a picture but didn't, so I will just put this out there as it is.

Was fishing my local east trib yesterday (one I have been fishing for over 30 years) and was just disgusted by the condition of the surrounding area.  It was a literal garbage dump and easy enough to see what all the garbage was from........fisherman.  The banks of the section I was fishing were littered with everything from plastic baggies, worm containers, pop cans, coffee cups, McDonald bags....not to mention all the slit fish but that is another issue.  This type of behaviour puts us all in a bad light with the non-angling public.

I did what I could yesterday and carted out a small portion of the garbage and plan on returning to clean up the rest.

Sorry to rant but it is really upsetting when you see this and you know that you should pack out what you pack in.  This makes us all look bad.

Again sorry about the rant but it just pisses me off to see this.   This is how access is lost to areas.  Please pick up after yourselves....you know who you are.

#305662 Opener - Be Careful Out There

Posted by JDean on 20 April 2014 - 09:29 AM

Just came back from a long walk on a couple tribes and just wanted to remind everyone to be careful on the streams in the upcoming weeks. I know it has been a long winter and seasoned and new anglers are excited to finally get out on the water, but we must be wary of what we are doing.

Specifically watch where you are wading. There are a lot of fish on the redds right now and we MUST watch where we are walking and be sure we are not trampling through these redds. What we do now will dictate the quality of fishing in 3 years when this year class returns to the rivers.

contribute on here a bit and you may find people willing to help. plenty of information on the world wide web to btw

As another new member, posts like this do not welcome people at all

As a bit of background, I have been fishing steelhead and salmon in every trib from Bronte to Shelter Valley for 35 years and came where in hopes of finding a forum to share my experience and to also gain some new techniques I may try and benefit from. This is the second time I have posted about snide remarks towards new members questions. It leaves me wondering if it is even worth the effort to participate in these posts as it seems like an exclusive club for the chosen few.

To the original poster......I am in the east and all the creeks are high and muddy out here and will more than likely be like that through the weekend. I can give you an update on Friday if you wish
