My nephew made me one and I want to mount it on the wall. Not sure how far apart to put brackets. I've seen pictures where they're fairly close together and others where farther apart. Pros and cons before I start hammering, drilling, blasting etc.?

Kayak Repair Advice Request
31 May 2014 - 02:15 PM
I've had nothing but trouble with this kayak since I bought it several years ago but I'd like to salvage it if I can. There are 6 scuppers. The 2 in the front cracked shortly after I got it. I tried to repair and it lasted a season. That was several years ago and it has been in storage since. I'm ready to have another go at it if I can get some advice.
The picture shows the worst of the two. Any pressure on the hull seems to put an inordinate amount of stress on these two scuppers, hence the crack. Any suggestions on how to go about repairing/reinforcing. Not looking for pretty just looking for float.

Fishing again
31 May 2014 - 12:47 PM
I used to fish pretty seriously but about 5 years ago I let life and such get in the way and stopped. Now I'm dusting off the kayak (and doing some repairs) and the gear (and the skill set hopefully) and going to try and learn how to fly fish. I lived in London Ontario for most of my life but recently moved to Stratford and I'm exploring the possibilities. I've been fishing the Wildwood region. I'm as happy worm and bobber fishing fas I am pounding up and down the Ausable in my waders (although I have to get back into shape for the latter now). I particularly like fishing in the latter part of the evening and even at night as the sunsets and the night sky add to the pleasure.

Channel Cats
31 May 2014 - 11:23 AM
Many years ago I took my kayak onto one of the tributaries off of Lake Erie, fairly near to the lake. Port Bruce I think and started catching Channel Cats unusual in size and number. I thought it was right around this time of year. I live farther away now but if it's the right time of year I wouldn't mind making the drive and trying again. Can anyone tell me if my memories serves correctly? Is this the right time of year or has the intensity of the winter and/or the coolness of the spring affected the timing?

Wildwood - Off the Beaten Path
25 May 2014 - 07:30 PM
I'm new to the Stratford region and while exploring the Wildwood area I've found a couple of alternate access points for fishing in my kayak. They're a few concessions over from the official conservation area. More towards Harrington then St. Marys. Quite a few years ago I tried fishing the main body of water via the official entrance in my kayak but I found the speed boaters too much of a bother. Can anyone advise as to the quality of the fishing and the type of fish in the areas off the beaten path? One area (the farthest connected body of water and closest to Harrington) has access points and looks like it's still part of the conservation area but it's really hard to tell.
