Probably until the end of June and that's about it. The water temps are going up slowly so I can tell that they are close to being gone but perhaps there will be some lake trout in there after them. The lake trout numbers haven't been good this year, I've caught a few this spring but normally the whirlpool is full with them this time of year.

This trend is happening to every forum unfortunately. The funny thing is that people are still viewing topics but nobody wants to contribute to conversations anymore.

Saturday was fine in the Glen. Not sure about now? Either way, the Glen is a better bet then the Whirlpool as far as ice goes. If you are going, I would recommend to use some live minnows under a float (small ones) as the water is very clear and the fish are well fed and not easily fooled.

Raven rods are good. I used to have an 11' IM6 (2 piece). It was great for small river fishing and had good backbone. Given the lure rating of the IM8 (and all their other longer rods) I imagine it feels a bit more flimsy but most longer float rods are like that. See if you can hold one in store somewhere before buying. Raven also has 3 piece rods.
