TI how do you rig the sponge. I’m curious. Do you trim it to make it look like egg?

Who cares really ... Ratings don't matter. Once people get to know you, fish with them, meet up contribute to the community online and offline. That's what counts.

#334477 Road trip

A bit of footage.

So started at 0530 fished till 10. Only 4 fish in the zone that we had access to. You get assigned a pool from the draw. Fred the guide was good. He told me up front, we should go look elsewhere rather than "fishing over rocks".

Took a big hike about 4km to another section in the river. Weather was hot, water was low, dropped close to 9 inches over past 2 weeks. We did some bushwacking through the woods. Fred, the guide who is retired and does this part time, 55-60 y/o, leading me through the forest, under fallen logs, we finally go there.

Of course it started to rain even though it wasn't forecasted, and neither one of us brought a rain coat since it was 25+ and sunny with no chance of rain.. Thanks weathernetwork!!. I put the go pro away since I didn't have the other case with it.

I hook into a fish on a dry, lost him after 5 mins... From Fred, his estimation 20+lbs range.. :(

Rain let up, the bugs came out, and had one more take. Well sort of, the fish rose to a dry but missed the fly.... There was some editing afterwards to take out me cursing!!

So the trip was great even though I didn't land one.. Already planning for next year. Learnt alot from Fred. I think next year might be a multi day fishing trip.

I did well the day before on Stipped Bass, got 6 in total, outfishing the locals on the fly. Not quite what I was looking for but hey. the tug..

#329234 Justice has been served....

Posted by Paul1913 on 23 December 2015 - 01:04 AM

Great news, but I have one issue with these big fines. There is nearly zero accountability for non payment of these fines. I have seen this time and time again when heavy fines gets issued.

Its no different when it is someone gets tens of thousands of dollars in fines for driving offences, no insurance, suspension etc..... They dont care if they have a licence to drive, yet they still do.... its only after .. the 3-4-5th offence they might get 7 days in jail.. ( realistically you only serve 5of7 due to statutory release). Rack up 150k in fine, and serve 5 days. OOOOOOOOO........If they dont pay.... Their licence gets suspended. Do you really think this will deter these people from fishing/driving....

Go after their assets, seize their vehicles, their gear (even though worth probably nothing), seize their friends vehicles that are there helping... if they dont pay garnish their wages, go after their pay check.. That's where it hurts.. If they dont work, they almost certainly get some form of social assistance.. Cut it off.. Jail time would never fly.. We barely get custodial sentences for criminal offences against people, against, wildlife.. yea not in my life time..

/endrant....

I assume police? Are you guys allowed to enforce the conservation act and fishing regs?

Yes we are. It's written into the fish and wildlife conservation act that we are Co's as mentioned in the act.

Frankly I have worked 11 years in an urban environment so the intricacies of the act I do not know. Just the major / common offences.

I have no issues in confronting people when they're doing something blatant and have done it in the past.
