#327742 Hydrometric data help

Posted by flandogg on 26 October 2015 - 08:37 PM

One way I can recommend to 'guage' the conditions and water levels from the water office site is to look at the history of the past year or so. You can get assess the pattern and set a benchmark for the average water flow. You can also note the dates with the peaks, which resemble precipitation and runoff. Go to the environment Canada weather history database, which will tell you how much (mm) it rained on that day. Although it's not perfect, you can figure out how much the forecasted rain will affect the trib. It's a little bit of work, but if you are tight on vacation days or wife/gf get out of jail free days, then you can choose an ideal day to get out.

#327009 Wading boots with support

Have you tried putting custom orthodic inserts into your wading boots? Tbh I don't think any wading boot could give you the support a custom orthodox insert can. Try it with your Korkers, or if they are tight with the insert, get another wading boot half or one size up and have at it. It makes a huge difference especially when we are standing all day.

#326367 Best swivels

They are relatively expensive, but I find the Spro power swivels with hyper snap to be durable, reliable and tend to perform the best for me.

#323805 TICKS!

Posted by flandogg on 05 May 2015 - 03:28 PM

PUMP and I noticed ticks on us over the weekend on the Credit. Never knew they existed in that area. Niagara Region is also loaded with them, found out the hard way unfortunately.

Use lots of bug spray, and tuck in your socks, shirts, etc. They like warm, dark places.
