I'm a big Abu Garcia casting reel fan, no bail casters, nice light action rod with cork handle. Cork handles a must can feel the lightest nibble. Don't go on the heavy side line wise as it hurts the casting distance. Good luck on your selection so many great options.

Hey,
I think you would be surprised what your vehicle will pull, years ago I had a Chev Cavalier and pulled a 16 foot K&C glass runabout with a 90hp johnson on it with no problem. Steep ramps I had to ride the clutch a bit but for standard driving on the roads no problem. Just make sure the boat is properly set on the trailer and not to far back so you have some hitch weight. A way you could look at it could your car haul 4 250lb guys around and the answer is it would be no problem. At present I use a ford expedition to haul my boat which the trailer and boat weighs approx 7200 plus pounds which is quite a bit over weight. It's no problem other than for the hitch weight, when braking I have to give myself some extra distance to stop so I don't wreck my brakes. Drive mellow and take your time and it should be no problem, you could also get trailer brakes if you want to improve your braking. A little extra weight won't be an issue with in reason cause the trailers packing it.

Thanks for the welcoming, Ucluelet certainly is a great place to live if your an outdoors man. Great fresh and saltwater fishing out this way. Yes I do charter out of Ucluelet winter fishing is okay but come June 15 - Sept 10 the lines light up big time. This year they upped the max halibut size to 133cm which translates to approx 70lbs so I'm pretty happy about that. We certainly have lucked out this year weather wise very mild no snow and a fair amount of sunshine. Sounds like the east has had a tough winter so far. Any of you fish the Great Lakes? Have a great day all!

If you can swing it the Raymarine touch screens are sweet I bought one last year and love it. It so user friendly feels like using an Ipad. The other option if you have an ipad is the Plan 2 Nav App it's free and the charts are cheap an cover pretty much everywhere.
In Topic: ANYONE HERE COLLECT WORMS AFTER RAINFALL?

After rainfall works, what I did as a kid when collecting worms in the yard is soak an area of the lawn then through down a sheet of plywood. In the morning or many hours later flip the board up and start grabbing them. Worked great. Usually did it at night and lifted the board in the morning just before heading to the river.
