Nothing in the MNR regs for the stretches I've been scouting. They're not part of the seasonal or size limit areas described in the charting. Not included in the sanctuary listings. I'll have to get out and fish them I guess and see what they hold.

Thank tossing iron and fishfreek. It's something I hadn't considered so I appreciate the heads up.

I've been checking them since last April with regular frequency when my travels take me to the area so I'll have to assume I've been there during a time where fishing must be open. Probably every 45 days or so covering spring, summer, fall and as recently as 2 weeks ago.

I've talked to some of the local bait and tackle guys and they don't even know the spots I'm referring to. But none of them have warned me of fishing reg violations either and some of these guys are regular Barney Fife types. I'll have to check the MNR site for specifics.

Tried the spot behind the beer store last Sunday. Water was a little high and faster than I've seen it previously. Never fished there before but have always seen it driving by or walking the trail. Got in with insulated waders and managed two decent sized perch on a small chartreuse spinner. Not bad for a Sunday at the end of January.

Hey, new here to OFF. Although I've fished all my life I don't consider myself an expert by any standards.

I've torpedoed and revived. It usually depends on the terrain from where I'm fishing. If I can get down in the water I prefer to revive and give them a chance to recover. 95% of the time this works quickly and benefits the fish. If I'm on a pier, bridge or other raised structure I'm limited to torpedo release. It's not ideal. No argument there. It has mixed success, which is a nice way of saying it's hit or miss. I've seen my share of floaters and don't feel good about it. I always want to see the fish swim away to continue its life and contribute to the ecology (don't mistake me for a tree hugger with that statement) because it helps our fisheries.

They won't always survive with either method. My 2 cents is to revive gently whenever possible but if you're in a situation where you have to torpedo the fish, do it as respectfully as possible.
