Tribs and rivers in Paris area

06 February 2016 - 05:01 PM

Yes, it's February. I don't ice fish. But like many, I've got fish on the brain all year. Worse over winter because I don't get in much fishing. This year has been better though because of the light winter and the fact that I've finally bought my first set of chest waders.

I've fished the Paris waters a little over the years. More this past year though after finding a few decent spots to go with the kids. Yeah, they're usually strapped to my back all summer so it gets hard to do the kind of fishing I want because of their ages. Some nice bass and catfish spots though to teach them how to fish and appreciate the outdoors.

I've found some good stretches in the two majors but are not shore friendly. Waders are a must. I haven't had a chance to fish any of them except one. Had a few on the line but landed none. It was an exceptionally hot day in August though so not surprised.

The places I've scouted out look very promising. The thing that concerns me is I've never seen anyone fishing them. I've been back repeatedly to see water levels and check overall conditions. I'm talking 7 or 8 visits to these spots. No one fishing. Ever.

So my question here is to anyone who knows the rivers and area well enough to discuss the places I've seen and to get their input. I'm not even really sure what to target. I've heard there is trout, pike and some really nice bass. The bass I've caught at my kid friendly spots so I know they're in there. Seen a pike hit something on the surface in one area I've scouted so that's promising.

Any advice and discussion on specifics should be done in private messages. Not looking to flood the area with bodies and overfish the place.

Thanks in advance.

Just wanted to say hi to the community here. Live in Kitchener, lots of great spots to fish. Looking to expand my horizons and knowledge here with other folks.
