Trolling Burlington bay

02 April 2016 - 11:36 PM

I have been fishing the harbour for years in a small aluminum and it is a great place to fish.
My fishing buddy and I have caught over 9 species of healthy fish in those waters and enjoyed many successful trips.
Last summer we upgraded to a larger boat with some Downriggers with the intention of heading into the bay this season for lake trout and salmon.
We picked up some rods and flashers and releases etc. used so we are set for tackle except lures.
Neither of us has much experience with this type of fishing so I was hoping to get some advice.
1. How much line should be trailing behind the ball when trolling?
2. What speed is ideal?
3. What types of bait or lures work best out there?
Any other advice would be appreciated.
Hope to see some of you out there this year!
