Lost quite a few spoons over the summer months to some toothy critters of the deep so I've been restocking. Pier chucking is going to be starting up soon. Has anyone had any experience with the blue fox strobe spoons? They're a hell of a lot cheaper than cleos but not sure if the price of them reflects the quality.
Any input is greatly appreciated!

Bottom bouncing vs. Spoons vs. Float fishing for steel

I am just wondering what everybodys prefered method for targetting staging steelhead is.
I've always been a big fan of bottom bouncing for early spring staging steel off the piers mainly just because I've had a higher success rate over tossing spoons and kwikfish. I have yet to try and float a roe bag around though.

Ice fishing at whitby marina

Has anyone ever tried their luck on the hard water in the whitby harbour area? I'm going to start getting the kids into hard water this year and don't want to make a long drive for the boys to get too cold too quick so something local would be great.
Rapala scatter rap tail dancer

I just bought myself a few scatter rap tail dancers because they were all on sale. Just curious if anyone has any experience with these little demons. They look good but how well do they actually produce? I'm going to go throw it around at the pier after work tonight to see how she fairs.
Late fall pier fishing
12 October 2016 - 08:56 PM
So I've just migrated towards pier fishing rather than hitting the creeks for the run this year. Was getting tired of the crowds and the antics that go on. As soon as I hooked into my first chinny from the pier I was hooked. The fight is totally different from what they put up in the creeks.
My question is how late in the fall is it worth fishing from the piers for the runs? Over the past week or two the action has really died down. Do you think it's just the weather or are they already done and up the creeks?
