In Topic: Ponds, small lakes in KW Elmira area. Just bought a Pelican Bass Raider

31 May 2017 - 09:21 AM

My first post. I'm hoping to find ponds, small lakes in the KW, Elmira area to fish in my 10 foot Pelican Bass Raider. I'd like to spend some times with my boys fishing.

My favourite fish are Bass. Hidden ponds that are legal to fish out of would be the best or where the owner would give permission. I appreciate any help you could give me.

Belwood lake north of Guelph would work for you. Fishing is pretty good and they let boats out. Its a conservation area so check the site and regs. https://www.grandriv...lwood-lake.aspx

Great idea thanks for sharing! Will probably do that with my camping gear too, so simple and cheap.

Purchased this toy a few months ago and its great to take on the water with the kids. Their already hooked on an iPads constantly so this should be fun!

I purchased it for $110 on Ebay, Walmart is at $140.

Enjoy,

I saw something like this on dragon's den, I wonder if its the same guys (remarketed)?

So is this something you're using to get your kids hooked on fishing or is it replacing traditional fishfinders for you? How does it work when you want to go somewhere else, you reel it in and then go to the new spot?

I guess you kind of lose the depth finder benefits of a traditional unit though right? Interesting concept but I wonder if it's more of a novelty / replacement for the portable kayak units ....

I went with the Elite-4X Ice package* - Its a portable unit with an ice fishing transducer.

At the time of my purchase, there was a rebate at the time where you can get $50, or an additional transducer for a boat.

Overall its a great unit to use, I plan to put it on my kayak this year.

This unit comes with Chirp functionality, Navionics + GPS, and a decent flasher mode so it is very versatile and can be used all year. Lowrance reintroduced this unit as "Hook-4" or whatever model (3,4, 5 etc) this past year. These are the same unit, just with a new name..

Great thanks! Found it, the Hook4x "ice machine"! Sounds more like a zamboni name than a fishfinder lol Cabella's has it for 419$ so that's probably not bad given it comes with the two transducers.   Will have to give some though to how much I would use it for icefishing... extra $ may get more features somewhere else

Thanks again.

And here I was trying to be helpful

I think he was talking about me? Are you not allowed to post links? Just sharing my research source bc it seemed like a good site. Sorry to the admins if I shouldn't do that ? Are there other places you use to research, I don't like going to the company websites (Lowrance, Garmin etc) because I feel like the advice is too biased.
