    using suspending plugs..

    Im not really used to fishing these baits, I mostly have experience catching pike on mepps spinners, spoons, and crankbaits occasionally.. they don't really affect the action of the first 2 mentioned.. just gonna tie it straight on for now.. so at least if i lose some lures i'll have...

    Fluorocarbon Leader

    hey guys.. i've been looking to an alternative to wire leaders for fishing my husky jerks when targeting pike.. the wire leaders cause the lures to sink... im thinking of trying fluoro as a pike leader.. which i've never done before (tired of my wire leaders kinking also) would I have to tie...

    using suspending plugs..

    so clearly the suspending plugs dont like intended work with wire leaders.. there are lighter duty micro leaders or something available, maybe these work better. i'm considering trying fluorocarbon (60+lb) as leader as this seems to be pretty standard for pike.. im thinking that a 12-18" long...

    using suspending plugs..

    went and fished the mouth of the humber today for a couple of hours, tied on my husky jerk without a leader and it suspended fine, it was the leader weighing it down

    using suspending plugs..

    mine were sinking, I swear! head first.. just like ace described so it must have been the leader..

    Just my observation.

    yeah, the marina isnt the giveaway, but there is a pretty obvious giveaway in the pic for those of us who know toronto.. do we really HAVE to be so secretive with these spots? I understand steelhead/salmon rivers but it just doesn't seem like these fish are very pressured to me (lake ontario pike)

    using suspending plugs..

    I think you're right..seemed like they sink to me, next time I will try just tying the lure straight on to the line and see if it suspends or slinks slowly, I still think it'll be sinking.. just slower without the leader

    using suspending plugs..

    didn't change the hooks.. I was using fairly heavy 30lb braided line tied to a 6 inch wire leader, I think it was the leader too

    rod holder tip-ups?

    anyone have any experience with these? saw some guys using it and it looks a lot more interesting than using a traditional tipup.. you get to use your rod to fight the fish...

    Need help choosing a new rod

    so you already have a reel? i've heard these are good but I haven't used it myself, friend has 1, http://www.basspro.com/Browning-Fishing-Six-Rivers-Salmon/Steelhead-Spinning-Rods/product/90107/ bass pro has quite a few salmon/steelhead rods which should be good for everything you're planning...

    using suspending plugs..

    just started using these lures the right way.. and actually giving them time to suspend rather than just twitching them and reeling in.. I noticed though they don't really have neutral buoyancy.. they tend to sink.. just slowly.. is this because of the wire leader I was using?

    Just my observation.

    i went out to the mouth of the humber with a couple of buddies and we caught nothing yesterday, fished a lot of spots too with suspending jerbaits

    rod for dragging tubes?

    Like I said I never fished this way before, but I've been reading that for smallmouth generally people use jig heads ranging from 1/8-3/4 ounce, so I was gonna try each size and see how they work at various depths, for smallmouth I fish between 10-40 " in summer.

    rod for dragging tubes?

    Never fished this way but want to try for smallmouth..I keep reading different things though.. and its very confusing..some people recommend stiff rods and some recommend light.. what do you guys find works best? also would you use a different rod for texas rigged tubes then for tube jigs?
