    Snagging intentionally...

I just don't understand the appeal of snagging a big ass salmon. 1. Not challenging to do. In fact, if all you're after is the meat then you can just net the fish in the shallow water. Why even bother using a rod and reel? Why pretend to be a "fisherman"? I mean does anyone think that snagging...

    Bronte Creek

Got this one today off the kayak. Hit my jointed rapala on the third cast of the day. After a huge fight I just went home. Bring on the steelhead!

    Help with the leader

Not sure what type of leader you are using. Make sure it's a quality line. 12lb line should not break. I use 12lb mono when fishing for salmon and don't use any leader. Finally, make sure your drag is set right and let the fish run when it wants to run.

    Bronte Creek - Oakville

For those wondering about the Lakeshore-Rebecca stretch. I was wading (...more like standing a meter from the shore) there last year and was approached by a cop. When he saw that I didn't have any gutted up fish with me, he let me go without a ticket but he said: If you're touching bottom, you...

    Spot the fish

I pretty much stop fishing for salmon once they are up the river. They almost completely stop eating and will ignore most things that you throw at them. Plus it's just not the same thrill as catching an elusive steelhead in the river. However one thing that has worked for me before are egg...

    Chrome

When I went last Saturday and found out that I actually went early, at first I thought that I was one week early...a few days later I see that I was actually 2 weeks early! How bad is that?

I guess I got a little too excited and for some reason actually thought that the opener was this weekend.

Wow I feel pretty stupid right now, not sure why I thought it was the fourth Saturday. Wowwww haha I'll do everyone a favour and not show up to the real opener.

    Sucker Clarification

You can find suckers anywhere. Put some worms on your hook and you'll catch a sucker before anything else right now. I catch tons in the Grand. I've noticed the warmer water this year has given them a lot of energy so they put up great fights (as is the case with all other fish).

Why do so many float fish?

As far as creeks go, it's a far more subtle way to fish (ie. you're not chasing fish away by constantly throwing in lead weights) and you minimize on your snags - which is always good cause you can spend more time fishing  Further, I float fish with a spinning real and have been doing...
