    Dollarama Gear

The day I went out to buy another of those 100 pack of hooks... they put them away... HUGE BUMMER! I loved those hooks and they served me well all year so far! Does any dollarama still have the hooks? PM me or post here :D Maybe if I ask nicely they'll find them for me!

    ROUGE RIVER

There are several runs of fish. Most of them have probrably gone upstream and found a place to spawn right now. You'd see pairs of salmon in shallow water, they're spawning. Sometimes they hang out in the lower part of the river, sometimes the fish go straight up as far as they'd like to...

    Snagging intentionally...

I skimmed through this thread and wanted to mention something that's been bugging me quite a bit this year. Why does the ministry stock Chinook salmon? I should really call them and ask why they would stock a fish that doesn't feed in the rivers, and then have an open season for people to...

Need crash course “Bass fishing 101” or “Bass fishing for dummies”

Without reading what everyone else said, this is how I catch 2 lb bass: Fish for pike or musky. :P When I'm actually going for bass: -they can be found in choked weed shallows 2-3 feet of water in the middle of the hot day. Use a live minnow and have it run around the edges of the weeds...

Reel and Drag Clean-out of vintage Abu Garcia Cardinal 4

You only use WD-40? Man your reels must be fast spinning and I guess it's really really thin so it would definitely wash away after a dunk.

Reel and Drag Clean-out of vintage Abu Garcia Cardinal 4

Now here's the thing folks, I seem to not have the proper lube for my reel. I just re-lubed it last night and it was working fine... but after 1 dunk in the river all was not fine. It started getting really, really stiff. Second time this has happened. I am using pellet gun oil, with the...

    Weird hook ups and suprises

In California a cormorant swallowed my squid on a hook... and somehow managed to regurgitate the whole setup, intact. Very lucky for me, and the bird....but I went back to the drawing board on properly hooking baits LOL

    Salmonid insanity!

LOL I don't have a favourite muskie/pike destination :(. But I may find one in the future :). Thanks for the heads up about the Atlantics. I know they're closed season all year long. After getting some ID advice I found out they're all Atlantic salmon.

    Salmonid insanity!

LOL the california trip is incoming! I gotta clear up all the smaller reports first to make way LOL =). Fly rod, no haven't invested in a fly rod yet. I'm using a small clear or wood float a foot or two up the line to add weight to the fly so that I can cast it. It works well for small...

    Salmonid insanity!

Thanks =) It's the biggest one I've caught, with lots of red dots. Can't complain, it was a nice fish to lay my eyes upon! I didn't want to let go of it, I just kept staring at it underwater LOL. And the best part was that it was completely unexpected, and probrably one of the few in...

    Salmonid insanity!

I've read that salmon parr prefer faster water than trout parr. Well, in another shallow area further upstream I got this guy: Again, another deeply forked tail, but different colouration. Another salmon of sorts! I hope to get some help in identifying the 3 salmon that I was able...

    Salmonid insanity!

On my next trip to the same spot I started off by sight-fishing this white sucker: More than 60 scales on the lateral line... so it has to be a white sucker right? I returned to the pool I had caught that brookie to find resident rainbow after rainbow. I noticed some micros in the pool...
