Can't Catch Any Fishes in Toronto!

Hello Kevan! Don't worry one bit, I was in the same boat as you last year (well not literally a boat... nevermind :P). It took me all summer to catch a small pike and a bass. Very sad. I started fishing in January this year and didn't get a fish until March. The number one thing is spending...

    Wide spool reels

On my camping trips last year I brought a cheap, light, plastic reel from Walmart. That broke on my last trip of the year. So I'm looking for a new set-up to stow in my backpack, hopefully as compact and lightweight as possible but still reliable. In this application it would be fished from a...

    Wide spool reels

I've been eyeing some ultralight reels for a future camping trip and other light-pack outings. Trouble is, they've all got tiny, narrow spools that won't cast well nor hold enough line if I hook into something mighty. I found the US Reel 180 that seems to be what I'm after in a reel. Light...

    Favorite Spot

I don't have a boat either and I find that the fish move around. Some days they're there and other days they're somewhere else. Also some days the fish can be there and not feed, so there's that factor as well.

    Carp on weedy bottoms

Sounds like a good alternative to PVA foam for tipping the hook! Also I didn't think about the paylake style as an option for weeds. The mass of the packbait should be more than enough to get a good cast out, so I could use a really light sinker on the line. Would also protect the hook point...

    Carp on weedy bottoms

The pond nearest to me has a weedy bottom. What sort of carp presentation should I be using? I went out for a few hours and I believe my hair rig is getting lost/tangled among the weeds.

    Oshawa Creek (south of 401)

Bang on, remember to walk your tribs on a nice clear-water day and take note of the pools.

    Oshawa Creek (south of 401)

The post wasn't cleaned until just now, when I deleted the text I quoted. I was there today with a red back pack and blue rod, shout out if you saw me! The spots mentioned were full but I was able to find my own pool with fish that weren't spooked. I wouldn't dare go on the weekend... :P
