More Pond Fishing. Pretty Nice Fish.

Nice. Gotta love the pond action. What rig were you using? Texas, Carolina, weightless?

    Western Pier tonight

That actually doesn't surprise me... I can remember guys getting lots of hens well into November, just 100M up from the mouth of a west river years back... Just curious, were these bucks or hens, or both? Thanks for the report! Do let us know if you go back for an update!

    Fishing for suckers...lol

The more advanced poachers will actually keep a stringer with a sucker or two on it to make their story plausible. True story.

    East tomorrow

I'm not sure what the big deal is... This time of year, those numbers are not uncommon for guys who spend time on the tribs.

    Fishing with beads illegal?

I can't remember where I read it, but there have been reports/rumours of people recently (past year) actually being charged for fishing the bead method. Can anyone confirm?

    Naming water!!

FYI, for those of you who weren't around last year for the initial debate on this topic... OFF members requested, voted and decided that rivers should not be named. Here is that thread: http://www.ontariofishingforums.com/forum/topic/17475-naming-rivers/?mode=show @ w_boughner, I agree that...

    MNR GETS Em

Here’s a solution that would not cost the OMNR a dime and would not punish the rest of us who adhere to the regs: For those who do get caught poaching, keeping over the limit, snagging, etc: Instead of issuing a fine, let their punishment be X hours of “community service”. In this case...

    MNR GETS Em

Government throwing more money (our money) at a problem isn't always the best solution. It rarely is... With respect to stocking programs, from what I've read, I believe that the OMNR's ultimate goal is to have a self-sustaining fishery, with only minimal stocking. People like CC and John from...

what rod length for pier fishing?

Over the years, I've used a 9', 10'6" and an 11'6" for the piers. If I had to choose one of those three that I would recommend for strictly pier fishing, it would be the 10'6", hands down.

    MNR GETS Em

And what about for those of us who wish to go out only once a year? That's $100 per outing. Take my girlfriend for example. She likes to try for sunfish off the dock (with worms and a big red and white bobber) up at her parents cottage when she goes up once a year. She doesn't mind paying less...

    MNR GETS Em

When the day comes, and I'm sure it eventually will, that I have to pay the Ontario government $100+ for a fishing license, species specific to boot, that is the day that I will hang up my fishing rods. Or move. Most likely the latter.
