    Moderate hydrometirc spike coming...

 Yes, we've all occasionally witnessed this phenomenon. However, the majority of the time, salmon runs are triggered by factors other than "if they feel like it"; The largest of which is water flow. You can't predict runs based on "if they feel like it". :) You can predict runs...

    Moderate hydrometirc spike coming...

^This Which results in this: You can see the big spike from a few weeks ago that triggered the first run for comparison.

    Moderate hydrometirc spike coming...

Looks like it didn't happen... Not nearly enough rain, it barely made a small blip on the chart... I would say there was no run at the Credit looking at that chart.

    Moderate hydrometirc spike coming...

Not exactly a torrential downpour expected, but considering the lack of rain during the prior 2 weeks, if we do in fact get 10mm, I expect this to trigger a small run. IMO. ;)

    Saugeen Trip

I think that is an awesome idea... what a great opportunity to try different steelhead equipment! How often does that happen? :)

    Help with the right setup

Economics and fishing go hand in hand: You decide to go to work after 50mm of rain, instead of going fishing. You earned X dollars by doing so. BUT... You could have had your best day on the water ever had you gone fishing instead. :( Opportunity Cost. You are shoulder to shoulder with...

Good website where people can share their fishing reports

If it's blatant spam it will be nuked, whether it be the promotion of another site, another forum, viagara pills, whatever. Spam is spam. If however, the poster is sharing valuable information that will help members, and it happens to reside on another forum, I'm OK with it. At the end of the...

    Help with the right setup

For pier fishing, I use 20 lb Power Pro, which has a 6lb diameter. As for mono, I know that some may disagree, but I used to run a premium (Ande Tournament) 6lb or 8lb test, never anything higher. I find that mono in this range helps you get optimal distance on your casts while providing...

    Professor's Lake Brampton

I grew up fishing this lake. This lake has some BIG bass in it. I was down there last year just to take a look at the old stomping ground and I could see quite a few monster bass cruising around. No fishermen in sight.

    Elite membership fishing day?!

I thought the rules posted at the top of this forum were clear, but in case some of you missed it: I cleaned up the cat fight between two members and will issue a warning to the offending member this time. However, the next time any member feels the need to insult or call out other members...

A tip for timing the salmon runs for the noobs

What I'm trying to say is this: The red dots are salmon, and their movement corresponds with the timeline/hydrometric data on the bottom: It's a tall graphic, so you may have to scroll to see the bottom. *** I have added this animation to the OP***

A tip for timing the salmon runs for the noobs

That station happens to be the closest one to the mouth which is why I used it to illustrate the point. Keep in mind that all of that water flows downstream into Lake Ontario. You can use that data as a baseline with which to compare relative flows in the system. Agreed, they absolutely do...

A tip for timing the salmon runs for the noobs

For those of you who like to line the river banks near the mouth of your favourite river... <_< This is just another tip for the fishermen who are new to salmon fishing, as a follow up to the salmon pier fishing thread found here...

    Big Rainfall Imminent

A cold front along with close to 50 mm of rain over the next 48 to 72 hours is what they are calling for. Now would be a good time to sharpen those hooks. :D
