2011 SALMON & TROUT PICS - BRAGGING RIGHTS

to the person who said chinook led to the demise of atlantic salmon is wrong, atlantic salmon died off in the late 1800's chinook weren't introduced until early 1900's . a fellow on the river was new to river fishing and battled a salmon for far to long and when he went to release it it was...

    The definition of lining?

i feel that all my salmon i caught this year so far have all been from a bite, a friend was drifting the same pools at the same depth yet he didn't get a hit with his roe bag and i was using beads and on a clear day you can watch the salmon head swing and they nip at the bead. people who are...

What kind of rod to use for river fishing?

heavy action ugly stick seems to be the norm. however id recommend the fenwick hmx series 9'6 great starter rod and is less than 100 bucks. in order to float fish properly you need to have your rod tip up and heavy long rods like shimano convergance and okuma are to heavy to hold properly all...

    Salmon and leaders

salmon not line shy ha ha ha, next time pay attention at how the fish will literally stack up at the back of the pool because some one is using heavy mono or a sinking fly fishing line. using beads i typically run a 18-24 inch leader with not shot of 8 lb seaguar flour carbon.

I Love Trout, Want to Catch Some Wild Ones

i agree with the above, 3-4lb leaders are just not needed. personally i would go with 6lb or 8lb if the water is a little dirtier, first if you go with a high quality leader like seagaur the diameter will be far smaller than that of say cheap fluorocarbon like trilene or berkley. personally i...

I Love Trout, Want to Catch Some Wild Ones

find some one who will show you the ropes, your first year will always be frustrating but if you have some one to show you the basics it will give you a huge head start. i remember when my friend took me to the river for the first time and there were about 10 chinooks in a foot of water and i...
