    Shore walleye...

I think Ling is more a a local term. Another term is Lawyer. I believe the correct name is Burbot, its a ray finned fish related to cod. I think their the only freshwater ones, but I could be wrong. There snake like, and wrap around your arm as you unhook them. They'll also twist the hell...

    Shore walleye...

Thanks for the kind words Dozer! As for the ling, you would think so, but this weekend was the first time ever, that I've seen walleye eat ling. There was two much smaller ones in the belly of a fish I filleted on saturday, then that longer one was on Sunday. I was quite surprised/intrigued

    Pike invading the Kawarthas

I didn't take it that way dood. I understand your concerns, we all have them as anglers. At least you care, thats a great thing! lol My pleasure posting the tips. Remember though, if you want to use that to target pike, some of the tips are kinda backwards haha. Like if your on a good pike...

    Pike invading the Kawarthas

Pike are fun, good to eat and are pretty fish. BUT.... I'll tell you a few things, I have spent years figuring out detailed patterns for pike, walleye, bass, perch and crappie. I fish alot, and I really play close attention to what is happening. I keep track of almost all of it too. NOW...

    Pike invading the Kawarthas

I don't really see why it would pose any risk??? Tons of lakes have great populations of both, and many are trophy fisheries for both pike and muskies ie Rainy Lake/Lake of the Woods. If the pike are making there way in naturally, I'd not be concerned. Fisheries have many many ways of keeping...

    Shore walleye...

My pleasure! Yes, we had a pretty good outing. It was tons of fun! Still waiting on the bigger walleyes though. Supper was awesome, as the walleye usually are! Yes, with migratory walleye, you need to pay attention to what is happening all the time. After a few years, it's all stored in the...

    Shore walleye...

The bites come fast and furious! It's all small fish, but who cares! Man were having a blast! This kept up for an hour and a half. We caught to many to count really, all fish from 13" all the way up to 20". For some reason I decided to take pics of all the small fish today, hahahaha...

    Shore walleye...

Well, on Friday afternoon I packed up the gear to go check out one of my shore spots. I wanted to see how the shiner run from Lake of the Woods/Rainy Lake was going. It started a few weeks ago, but has yet to peak. Here on Rainy River, the walleye/bass and pike feast heavy on shiners during the...

    Weather Sources

without a doubt, I find wunderground to be the most accurate for me. They have a weather station like 3km's from my house, so the weather is usually bang on, and detailed

    A lil Thankgiving Bass

Yes, it's very good to take kids fishing! Just as good to get them involved in the process as well. I shore fish alot with my kids, just cause our family is too big to get out in the boat all at once, lol. So we shore fish at least 3 times per week or maybe more, even if it's just for a few...

    A lil Thankgiving Bass

lol, actually, this fish was pretty gorged out. Super fat and lazy, lol. Remember, water temps are in the mid forties. This fish was on the feed for a few days for sure. I thought It was another small pike, till it was 20 ft away and I seen it. I thought, holy s**t, thats a smallie, lol. Barely...

    A lil Thankgiving Bass

Took out some local kids today, as well as my own, for a thanksgiving shore fish. Water was cold, 46 degrees, and very low. Winds blowing hard from the west, and cold. We managed a few early pike, all small. Then we hit a decent a smallmouth! Gotta love fall buckets!!!! Had a few smaller ones...

    Tandem Rigging...

Drop shotting with a jighead on the bottom instead of a sinker is fairly common practice, especially with pan fish. Totally legal in Ontario, only two hooks (as previously mentioned 100 times, lol). Most people will use two different plastics, and it can be very effective. It's also a great...
