    First Spey Rod

TC is right on the money. Typically you up-size the reel on a spey and even switch outfits in order to hold the line required. Did you buy at Sail in Oshawa? If you did talk with Matt -- IR4J --on here. Very knowledgeable in this area and he could help you out

^ this is the basic reasoning behind wet flies. Swimming a nymph would resemble an emerger which is what the sub surface wet imitates. So no doubt it works and is another tool to add to the arsenal We gotta get out this year for residents Schmogley. You with your dries and me with my nymphs...

    WINTER PIKE

As with most winter fishing, lure/bait presentation must be slowed down. Lure colours are the same as summers if you fish by clarity. Clear waters lean towards silvers, coppers. Cloudy waters move towards the darker colours and fire tigers. But, as you know Pump, those are only suggestions...

    Toronto trip

Steelhead will still be in the rivers and fishable for sure. I am sure there will still be a lot of open rivers and plenty of fish to catch come December. That is when I start to enjoy the rivers more. Less crowds, and cold weather. Might just have to slow it down a bit and fish a bit...
