    rigging a canoe

Yes you need to tie it down. Either rope or straps will work You should tie down the front and rear to a point down around the bumper/frame area in 'V' pattern and at least one tie down around the belly of the canoe to keep it snug to the roof. Lots of good You Tube videos on how to do it. JD

    Squirrel tail.

FYI Kit, Squirrel is not in season right now. They do have a specific hunting season as stated in the hunting regs book. I wouldn't be taking game out of season and advertising it on a public forum that's for sure.

Size of hook is ok. Quite regularly use 14's and 12's especially with single eggs and smaller BHHE flies. With nymphs and egg patterns, the trout are quick to reject the fly...they don't hold on as long as with a natural bait so you have to be quick on the set at any indication of a take...

I assume you use weights when you drift roe bags, correct? Well take off the roe bag and put on the fly. Viola!

PUMP.....You set up your rig exactly the same as if you were fishing roe. Except a fly is the bottom element of the rig now instead of roe. the weighting you use take the fly down to the strike zone.

Smaller waters ranging from the grand and granny to upper limits of wilmot and credit. Rod will be for river trout and panfish and such. It will not be used for steelhead of larger fish such as bass River sections will be castable for the most part although back casts will be limited at times...
