    Rod/reel recommendations

Thanks guys. I could be convinced to go somewhat over budget. Now is a long rod essential for river fishing or can it be attempted with a bass setup? (I know. I guess you can attempt with a string on a stick, lol) Or would it be better to just stick with my current cheapy bass rods and just...

    Rod/reel recommendations

I've been scouring different store sites on the net but the amount of products and information is somewhat daunting. I was wondering if the pros here can help out with any recommendations on a rod and spinning reel that can together meet my relativelly small budget of $200 (I did NOT win the...

Catch and release guys rave a read !!

That's a great read and good pointers. Thanks for posting that wb. The last thing I want to do is unknowingly harm the fish I've just caught.

Over the limit gets a $1600 fine.

Wow what does someone do with that many trout? Does anyone know what the MNR does with the fish that were seized? Or any poached game for that matter?

    Duck Vs. Pike

Weird, got a call at work today from a vet clinic who was treating a small dog that got attacked by a hawk near a condo downtown. Just when you think you've heard it all..... Needless to say they wanted to know if we would try and catch the hawk. Ummm....no....it's a bird. A hungry one. With...

The most disheartening item you lost in the drink

I got motion sick when the waves picked up on Couchiching and lost my lunch over the side of the boat. Then my sunglasses fell in and sank. Double whammy.

You have $500 to your favourite fishing tackle store. What do you spend it on?

I have no freakin idea. I'd either ask the store employee what get or ask one of you peeps to come help me out ;-) I'm ig'nant but learning. If I was left to my own devices I would probably get distracted by shiney things and not necessarily make the smartest purchases, lol.

    Duck Vs. Pike

I was up in Haliburton and there was a family of about 15 newly-hatched ducklings in the swampy part of the lake where I was staying. Well every day their population diminished by 2-3 until there was only 2 left. Then I saw the huge snapping turtle living under the dock  I know, it's...

    Downtown Toronto Steelhead

Hey Mcfly. I live downtown as well and have fished downtown, though not for trout. I'd be willing to meet up sometime. I haven't been for a few weeks but there's several spots right downtown that look promising.

Six pack ring around a birds neck

It really depends on the municipality in which you are in. Whoever does animal control for your municipality would be the first point of contact. There is an OSPCA wildlife rehab in Midland. In the Toronto area there is the Toronto Wildlife Centre. They have a volunteer rescue team. Their number...

Looks like 2 spots I've tried, but I'm not totally sure. I'm new though, what do I know, lol.
