    Check out the berkely shock rod. $30 and available at your local CT. Two pieces, 6', medium action. That should be a good general purpose rod. Otherwise you would be happy with anything with the Shimano name IMO. Never tried Daiwa, but people seem to like that brand. I know where you are...
