    New fly rod

I'm looking into a new rod so I'm not stuck using my 7ft 3wt for streamers again. I'm probably gonna get a 5wt between 8 and 9 ft. I'm open to recommendations on the actual rod and also the length. It will be for primarily streamers but I may use it for dries or maybe even nymphs if I'm really...

    Easter Weekend Fishing

I came across lots of respectful anglers too but by loogans I mean the ones that play soccer with suckers and will come up and fish 10 feet from you when there's plenty of room to fish. And, as you said, loogans may become more apparent when the fish are on.

    Bloodrun floating mono

Lots of info here: http://floatfishing.net/floatboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15977 I have a spool sitting in my line bin but it's gonna have to wait for me to get through the 10 spools of sufix promix that I just bought. Sounds good but I'd wait for the price to go down some more. $20 for 200yds...

Wow now that's a report! Also love your photography. Assuming that's what you mean by open water report?

    Dunnville Dam

I haven't caught a bowfin in the river there yet, but I don't see why there couldn't be a few in there.

    Deeper Fishfinder

I have a humminbird portable fish finder. If you're worried about depth, it goes down 240 ft. I believe the exact names is humminbird 140cc portable fishing buddy. It just clamps vertically or horizontally to a piece of wood or the side of a canoe/kayak.

    GoPro Tips

I have the same camera, I would suggest fiddling in setup, there's a few options that should improve battery life a bit. When moving from spot to spot, you can stop recording and turn it off. Pump probably has some better advice.

    April Steelhead

I hope so. Last year I believe they posted it on their homepage late march or sometime in april.

    April Steelhead

@LordMK: Last year we were getting dropbacks at the CRAA derby (which was may 10). I'm pretty sure Shmogley was nailing them into mid may too. I'd imagine it'd be similar this year, unless the fish can run under the ice.

    April Steelhead

When you say 'late april', what would be the time you're around Ontario? I say this because the trout opener is on april 25 this year. So that means that the entire river of pretty much every river will be open, but before that, only a select few rivers in small portions are open all year...

    most memorable steelhead moments

My most memorable was my first one, even though it was small. I had put in so many hours that fall to not even get a bite, but near the end of november, I was about to pack up for the day when the float went down. I thought it was a snag like every other time my float went down that fall, but...

    Rapala Shadow Rap

Imo rapalas are too expensive when my waters generallly have snags. I haven't bought a rapala (besides a j-13) since 2 years ago when I lost a $12 lure on the first cast.

What Do You All Wear Under Your Waders??

Winter, I've been wearing long johns, two pairs of roots track pants and thermal socks from mark's or sportchek. Rest of the year I wear sports track pants and cotton ankle socks, shorts if I can get away with it.

First few trips of the season

I've been trying to figure that out with mine, with the battery bacpack it does easy 3 hours, maybe 4-5 since it's new.

That sucks, wish you a speedy recovery. I'm fortunate and haven't had any hockey injuries yet.
