    Triggering following fish

That's what Jeremy Wade did! I'll down size next time. You are right with the lack of rain, waters have been low and clear.

    Triggering following fish

Last few outings I've been stymied by curious but non-committed fish. This has happened with float-fishing and also with different lures of various colours, sizes, and retrieve speeds. They look and may follow it but have been mostly passive. I saw on a recent episode of River Monsters where...

    Early GBay Steel

Nice! This is my favourite time of year because no one else is on the rivers. I took the day off to go out today and agree that we need rain! Still, there was some aerial action, including a surprise chinny. Unfortunately even with the action the stench of skunk has not been lifted for me...

Port Hope Says Enough is Enough

I don't think it's fair to automatically blame offenders based on their ethnicity. I've seen arseholes in every shade, (including Canadian). Just get more enforcement and up the fines as deterrent. Cops have enforcement blitzes, i dont see why they cant do the same on the rivers.

    Wader problem

For the bleach users: what concentration do you use? I would think that high strengths or over-exposure could make some materials brittle

    "You're on Private Property"

Its difficult to be in a confrontation when its your word against his. We're not lawyers and for all you know there could be local bylaw or something. Their justification is often that they own both sides of the river and therefore can control the access. I carry loaded LCBO cards for this...

    Catching salmon on empty hook?

The Huron fish are definitely shinier than the Lake O fish. I don't think it has anything to do with water temps though because even in open water at this time they already have some colour. Anyway I'm not sure if they running salmon really eat but they definitely bite

    The Ultimate Photo Thread

Opener was definitely a lot slower this year, compared to last year. I did manage this nice buck in full colours. It had a bit of kype but the neatest thing about it was the hump in the shoulders! [sharedmedia=gallery:images:1041]

    Dissolved Oxygen

The warmer temps mean there is more runoff entering the river. The increased turbulence in the water is essentially dissolving more gases, which more than makes up for lower content in the slightly warmer water

I know its far but.....Anybody know lake louise/banff area?

Lake Louise and the stream that flows out of it has little cutthroats. There's a falls close to Banff Springs Hotel there (Bow Falls?) that you will be able to use your 5 wt. The lakes are deep and cold with lakers, but you'll have to get to the bottom for those. Try Lake Minnewanka when its not...
