    september muskie fishing bancroft area

In the area of Elephant Lake there is also Baptiste and Benoir that hold musky, as well as stretches opf the Madawaska River. However, the question was "decent" musky lakes. It's more bass and trout country that way. Good luck

    My Bass Opener

I've used the bait spray, for tubes exactly how you mention. Haven't used it since it exploded in the trunk of my car one trip and had that stench on everything lol. Pond or Lake O? Unless you know there are good bass haunts along the stretch of shorline or a marina that you can acess to fish...

    My Bass Opener

It's true, there are many colours to choose from. Generally, I stick to earthy natural colours - greens, watermelon flake, brown with the green tip. I was talking to a tourney bass fisher about the pink, he likes it for the visibility so that he can watch his bait fall. I just use my line as...

    Sardines as bait

Using live game fish as bait (walleye, perch, sunfish) is illegal in Ontario and if caught are some serious fines, perhaps even having your licence taken away. I would advise against it. I've witnessed a guy on Mountsberg Conservation area get a $450 ticket for using perch under a bobber for...

    Good baitcast combo?

I've owned BPS tournament cast and spinning series rods. For the price they are great, however, a little too stiff for my liking. Personally I would look into getting a Fenwick Eagle GL Triggerstick. It's around $65. Lighter, better guides, enough backbone and fast tip to really get heavy...

    My Bass Opener

Thanks for kind words gents. It's not always the case that the bassin' is so hot on the lake, it's just one of those things when everything comes together nicely and you get into a good pattern. Even though I fish this lake quite regularly, there are still days that I scratch my head pondering...

    Fishing Near Toronto

Do a search on Kawartha Lake Fishing, couple of hours from Toronto. Not much pike, but there are musky, walleye and bass. Balsam, Pigeon and Buckhorn are good bets.

    My Bass Opener

Got up to Cana l La ke this long weekend and the bass fishing was spectacular. I used two baits all weekend, in what resulted to be over 50 largies of various size over three days. Fishing out of a 12 foot tinny, for the most part I was solo. My camera is still iin for repairs so I managed...

Havin' a go at the smallies

G'Luck. I always get outfished by "lesser" experienced partners. I think of it more as that I'm "guiding" them to the fish lol.

How did you do on the bass opener?

I didnt get out this opener but will for the upcoming weekend. Opener is usually a slow go as all the fish are spawned out and moving to their summer haunts. Big weighted worms or dancing a jig 'n pig work for me usually this time of year. I like to slow the presentation down during the day...

    Parry Sound Muskie

Never fished twelve mile, but similar in structure, I've fished the Moon River and Severn off of GBay for muskies. It is true that somedays can be a tough go, but there are some big girls hiding in the waters from GBay. Best advice I can give is find good weed (cabbage) growth in ranges of...

    Killing the fish

It is a rare occasion that I keep a fish or two for table for fare, but when I do, I prefer Dosaquis lol JK. I too have been taught to cut behind the gill plate, in fact, to sever the nerves from the brain to the flesh. I was told that when a fish is put on a stringer or in a livewell it is...

Can you identify/find this lure for me?

I may be wrong, but I think he was using a Heddon Crazy Crawler.

What should I do? Need help asap.

6lbs mono is fine for the young fella . Personally, I would use some 6lb mono as backing and tie on some 20lbs braid. I just like the sensitivity of braid over mono.
