    It's about time!

And although the Raven is not cheap, you wouldn't be overcome with tears of grief or need to take out a new line of credit as you might for other brands, if you accidentally trip and smash your raven during your first season. That never happens anyway... at least not to me.

    It's about time!

A good outfit to grow into, and something you don't necessarily need to grow out of any time soon.... fought lots of nice 'bows on the same gear in NW Ontario and Niagara. I really think you're going to enjoy yourself. I jumped into centerpin about 5 years ago and I put my fly rod down (gasp...

    Stoney Creek Grimsby fishing

It's been 10 years since, but try the creek that flows under the QEW highway RIGHT in Grimsby. Decent rainbows there back then. Used to park north of the highway and walk under the tunnel and fished right under the highway. It's small water, shallow, and can be quite dark after a good rain...

    Summer recap

6' 3wt St. Croix Avid is a great starter for the task

    Summer recap

Love the carp reflection photo. Looks like one hell of a good summer. You sir, are addicted  Keep up the fine work. Try a 2-3wt for brookies on dries. It's hilarious, especially when you hook at 12 incher.

    Get your bottom bounce on!

Silly debate. Bottom bounced for years, floated for a few. Just different tools for different situations. Try bottom bouncing in a couple feet of slow water in a small trib, or floating portions of the mighty Lower Niagara... Its also darn hard to accidentally hook up on a #12 or #14 hook...

Boat launch for Lower Niagara River

See my PM. There's the public Queenston boat launch in the town of Queenston, about 11kms from the mouth of the Niagara. There is a private yacht club pay-for launch near the mouth in Niagara-On-the-Lake, but I don't use that one.

New to baitcasting - any pointers appreciated

If its your first baitcasting reel, get yourself a nice hat, binoculars, and a Peterson's Guide to Eastern Canada because you're going to be seeing a lot of BIRD NESTS!!! :D

Good spots in London and area?

Thames river north of the city is good for smallmouth and carp. They're spooky in low water but quite catchable (if that's a word).

    St.Catharines Fishing

Friend, you have some great options in the St. Catharines area! Don't be discouraged by the lack of replies to this thread. I get the impression that more users are in the GTA. I'm living in Etobicoke but St. Catharines/Niagara is my home turf! How do you like to fish? What for? Here are...

    march.25.12 report

quote name='prime89' timestamp='1332780795' post='226784'] Pike was.caught of. A husky jerk. Husky Jerks are God's gift to fishing. It takes two hands to count the species those body baits have taken. Salt and fresh, north and south, warm and cold, sun and rain. Thank you for the update.

    Some pics from the fall

Nice photos. When the trout are out, bass are in! Probably the best introduction to fly fishing you can offer an eager fly casting learner.

    Fly fishing rod and reel

I'd go for a 6wt switch rod. Works nicely in BC for the same, but depends what kind of water you're fishing. Otherwise something a bit shorter (by shorter I mean normal 9' length) might be helpful.

    Carp on the fly

I've tried sight fishing on the Thames river north of London for carp - awesome! I use a fast action 4wt Sage (I spoiled myself) and plunk a fuzzy-fluffy-leggy-something in front of their nose and it works like a charm. I'm kind of embarassed to say that I think a carp, pound for pound, put up...

    First Humber steelhead (ever)

Roe - technically I was 1 for 2. I lost a much bigger one (naturally) and missed a few good strikes that I'll consider "site-specific calibration."

    First Humber steelhead (ever)

First steelhead on the Humber, first time out. It was a bit like fishing in chocolate milk, so I guess this fish has a really good nose. It sure isn't huge. Maybe I should have gone looking for suckers...
