    Countdown to impact!

110ft, 70ft down on a flasher fly. For the most part, the fish were way out there on Sunday.

It is exciting for sure. I find the trolling gear dampans the fight somewhat though. My goal is to eventually figure out how to jig for them in the open water with a light setup. That will be epic!

If you try the jet divers, let me know how they work. I gave up on trying them due to the drag issue. Otherwise they have the advantage of being buoyant. Meaning that if you have a paddle kayak and you are trolling two lines and stop to fight a fish, your other line floats up rather than being...

Hey Will, I was using a torpedo diver actually. Right now I have the "Shark" which can get you down anywhere between 20-50ft depending on the amount of line out. I will eventually get a larger one if I decide to troll any deeper. I also bought a #1 tadpole diver for trolling spring brown and...

Just a spoon. Hopefully I can get into something bigger this summer. I've always wanted to catch a fresh summer salmon from the kayak.

Tried trolling Lake O today from the kayak. Got myself breakfast. Not bad considering it was my first time out. Sorry for the awful picture.

No float. Just chucking and jigging. I think it's more effective than float fishing this time of year.

Yeah so smaller baits will sink more easily. Again it all depends on if you're doing a straight retrieve in shallower water or if you're chucking them out and drifting in a deep current. In either case you want to be close to bottom without snagging. I usually have jig heads from 1/4 to 3/4 on...

9 ft avid and 4000 stradic fj. Amazing pier fishing/jigging combo.

I would be impressed if someone can deduce that spot from that picture. Regardless, it's not really one spot either. The entire southern Lake O shoreline has brown trout in the spring.

Bottom bouncing vs. Spoons vs. Float fishing for steel

I generally prefer float fishing when the fish are in the river. Off the piers and in the lake spoons are my go to lure, followed by jigs.
