That was my experience at the island. Either way, I am planning on getting back soon too. I have visitors out from the UK for the next two weeks, but after that I will be hitting the islands for a full day fishing.

Thanks guys... Its a brand new reel, so i dont expect any washers to be missing, and like i said it was tight at the start of the session, just went slack after pulling out a snag. I dont see any on/off switch on the reel. I will try oil it up and see, thanks guys

This is an interesting post. I dont think going down the route of offering money for license would be the best first step. We all buy a fishing license, and in my eyes that should cover the harbour front too. I think our best bet is to keep pressure on these people and get a clear statement...
