    Port Darlington (Bowmanville) Fishable?

Anyone know if there is fishable open water at the Port Darlington pier? I'd rather not make the drive unless I'm a little more sure we'll be able to fish...thanks in advance.

    First Muskie

Thanks! Yeah we were targeting them. We were casting at first but switched to trolling after the wind picked up. I was using a big perch pattern Rapala Countdown.

Salmon off a Pier (with pics)

Went out to a Lake Ontario pier Tuesday and got into a few fish. Lots of leapers along the mudline and in the creekmouth as the waves pushed lake water upstream. My buddy and I landed 3 and lost 3. Good luck!

Land O'Lakes Bass Report August 2017 (with pics)

The weather has been unstable and the water high for much of the summer in the Land O'Lakes Region of Southern Ontario. Water temps have been warm and stable though and the plentiful post-frontal lows made the bass bite quite good for the end of July and early August, at least on the lake we...

Long time angler looking to get into ice fishing, have a few questions

For walleye I usually jig a rattling lipless crankbait aggressively in one hole to get their attention and then deadstick a minnow on a jig in a second hole so the fish can choose when they come in to see what's up. I don't ice fish for pike much (only once with my buddy who loves it) but a...

    Your best brain cramp moment

Ice fishing a stocked trout lake in Alberta. Realize I forgot the pin that attaches the handle to my hand auger. Desperate to fish after a long enough drive, I jam my needle nose pliers in the hole to secure the auger to the handle. Actually works and as soon as the auger punches though, I...

    Favourite Way to Catch Smallmouth

Two words: Wacky Rig (does it count if I put a Senko wacky style on a drop shot rig?) Topwater popper is a close second. Beauty fish btw!

Tips for bass fishing in the fall

It really depends on the day but I find the fall is when the faster presentations (some call power fishing) start to pick up again. Ie: cranks, jerk baits, top-waters...always have a slow-sinking finesse presentation ready for followers or short strikers. That being said, I had one of my best...

    Salmon pier fishing 2016

Here's a couple from a week and a half ago. Both caught on a orange and gold J13s. Question: With many more fish coming into the rivers, will the pier action stay hot for the next little while?

    Swimbaits for Slamon and Steelhead?

Has anyone tried casting soft plastic swimbaits on heavy jigs for staging salmon or steelhead in big river situations (ie: lower Niagara)? I'm thinking you could throw these anywhere you would cast a 3-way with a Kwikfish or a heavy spoon. I haven't seen much written about such applications but...
