    Autumn Steel!

definitely more rain needed, but these cooler temps are definitely bringing some fish in. starting to see fewer of the shakers and better numbers of fish with some size

    Triggering following fish

I personally wouldn't even bother fishing where you can see fish. Chances are there were many others before you doing the same thing and in turn spooking fish. Find some deep pools, a nice green brackish colour, and drift those. You will be far more successful than trying to sight-fish wary...

    Autumn Steel!

Well to say that I've had a stellar rainbow season thus far would be an understatement. And it's really just getting started. Lots of fresh fish since mid-September. All catches have been shiny and silver - healthy, hungry, wild fish - no observation of lampreys or lamprey damage. The key for...

    Early GBay Steel

Hey everyone, Well I've been fishing the rivers for the past 3 weeks, hooked a few jacks but I don't generally target salmon. What I'm looking for is early steelhead that make their way into the rivers right alongside the chinooks. For the past 3 weeks, I've come home with no stories to tell...

Awesome reel. I just purchased a Tailout Drifter II and I'm in love. Wayne makes some great reels

    Catching salmon on empty hook?

Salmon will willingly hit lots of presentations if the timing is right. I've got chinooks on streamers, roe, beads, buggers, you name it. I find the best bang for buck bait with salmon is fresh skein.

Great fish, especially yours FG! Always nice to land the first good sized steel on the pin. Couple more for me recently

Tell me why your wading boots are awesome. Or, aren't.

Tell that to my buddy who's sent his patagonia waders in for repairs twice, in as many seasons, for a total of 13.5 weeks out-of-hand at a factory somewhere. they just seem to be poorly designed and leak from multiple seams when compared to Simms. They do, however, make great clothes that I love...

What line for drift fishing salmon and steal head

Raven lines have different formulas for the different colours. Pink is a far better line than the neon green. I had nothing but problems with the green Raven. Pink was much more supple and didn't cause me any problems. Now I use Trilene Sensation in blaze orange. Great line, very little twist...

From Toronto, Drive, Rent Boat, Fish

I second Little Lake here in Barrie. Nice people, very reasonable prices, few different options for boats (aluminum, pontoon, etc.) and the lake is easy to fish and holds lots of small to medium size pike, crappie, and buckets.

You'll get used to it lol. Your reel is also alot more expensive than mine.

Is this a pike or walleye?

First pic isn't a chain pickerel. It's most definitely, 100% a pike. Look at the markings and the colours. Chain pickerel have a black line that runs from the top of their eye to the end of their jawline. Also chain pickerel are more yellow-ish in colour, and typically you would be hard pressed...

WHAT DID YOU BUY TODAY? FISHING PURCHASES

also, I recommend the GoPro. I never need a camera when fishing, my phone stays dry in my pocket, and I get amazing footage of the entire fight and not just a fish on the ground!

i'd say it's about half in the water and half in the mud haha. i beat that thing like it owes me money. some sand/mud grit gets into the reel regularly and it starts to seize and i just dunk it in the water and shake it around and it's good as new again.

got into some decent fish on the weekend. skunked saturday morning but more than made up for it in a couple of hours monday morning. a few of the usual spots were jam packed with guys but went to a favourite hole of mine that usually remains unfished. this was the biggest of the day, fought like...
