Anyone here use a shallow (12lb-110yd) spool on their baitcaster? Have you ever been spooled? Thinking of getting a shallow spool but afraid of getting spooled by large fish.

If I were to get a med-hvy, I would have to use some lures, 1/4oz, with 10lb mono, on a rod rated for 3/8-3/4oz lures with 10-17lb line. what are the consequences of using a lure/line thats underrated for the rod?

well, i was thinking 6'6" or the 7'.............but how does the size of the reel affect your line? I think my spinning reel is the smallest one. Im going to be fishing sunfish (bluegill, perch, crappie, rockbass, etc) and small LM bass with it. Maybe trout as well.

Would the "softness" of the tip even matter, if i use mono?

If I were to use a fast/x-fast tipped rod for crankbait, do I "choke" some of the lure's action, just by using a stiffer tip? Whats the motive for using mod-fast tips for crankbaiting?
