    OFF Ice Outing

Hey guys, how about an OFF dual purpose outing, possibly a location close to an ice fishing location for one day, but close enough to a river for the next. Might be hard to find a location with both conditions closeby, but I'm just throwing it out there.

    new reel

the freespool feauture makes it like baitcaster correct, but also has the clicker feature? half pin half spin ? not really sure what to categorize it as. seems like an interesting reel though, would be nice to handle it to see what its really about.

    steel patterns

always on the fly  however, recently bought a float setup to give the pin a try. since water levels haven't helped the runs @ tribs i fish, i've just been stocking up on flies and just looking for suggestions. I haven't been having much luck with nymphs lately either tbh, thats why I'm...

    Noob question about bait

large frozen sardines do wonders on a tip up for hardwater pike...well has worked for me, dont thaw them out though they get too soft and fall off the hook :)

    Steelhead outfit!

As CC said much earlier, FLY! However, if centerpinning is what you desire, there's a few recommendations I would make. The steelheader is a fantastic reel, but it breaks the bank. Buy an Okuma Aventa and swap out the bearings for ceramic ones and u have an amazing reel IMO. Or just spend the...

    The Grand River

Was in the brantford area of the gran going for steelhead a couple days ago....Seems like things are still a little slow, but may pick up with the recent rain. Not sure what the forecast has been over there, but hopefully things pick up. Fished for about 4 hours on the fly, not a hit or a...

    Interesting video/comments

nothing like going down to the humber and seeing people fish right below the dam with 4 lb mono and a zebco light action rod...saw one guy repeatedly loose his hook/roe sac 3 times on the same fish attempting to snag.....however this year i saw the MNR down there for once, as one fisherman (if...

    Tribby Chinnies

Hey all, Made a little collage of a couple of the catches from the past few weeks. My computer won't let me rotate my pics so i had to open them, printscreen, then crop and collage  lol, anyhow the left 2 were caught on custom flies, TFO 9wt rod, 9wf line, the two on the right (top...

    Hip wader repair

Hey all, I'm also having trouble with my waders. Have yet to detect the source of the leak, however this is my second pair leaking somewhere between the body of the waters and the rubber boot. I've tried a waterproof sealant on the outside but havent had any success. Was trying to avoid...

    bronte creek fly fishing

CC, thanks I guess I'll just have to be more patient for river stage salmon :) I have no experience fishing the petro park area with spoons or other methods, and it seems many people fish the area at night (which I don't have time for but would). Is it still viable during the day? I prefer...
