Now thats a great wife! I second Simcoe or nipissing, depending on how far you want to go. Look into renting a cottage from AirBnB or VRBO (Homeaway). Ive had stellar experiences doing this in the past. There are a ton of hut operators out there, depends on what your hubby wants to fish...

For ice fishing I'd go with a classic sonar. I have a lowrance with Down Imaging and it's not as easy to mark fish as you might think. I use DI mostly to identify structure. For example it will clearly show a submerged tree which might look like a school of fish on a sonar.

I am mostly wondering if you think classic taxidermy is worth killing a fish like that

Saw a post on facebook where a guy caught a 15lb walleye and iced it for the purpose of mounting it. Question is, would you do the same if you caught a fish like that or would you opt for a replica?

Muskoka area takes a long time to freeze. BOQ has safe ice in 2 spots, I know first hand ;) There should be plenty of places to fish by that weekend. Remember to post your report!

Crazy! Show me how you have your fish finder set up? Looks like the Lowrance ice kit. Do you dangle the transducer off the side>? Seem so simple compared to my set up.
