    Can 9' be used for panfish too?

    what rod length for pier fishing?

    I currently have a 6'6" rod. Mainly going panfish, bass and some catfish. I'd like to try salmon or carp too. People are telling me to get a longer rod for pier fishing. Are they correct? Is 6'6" too short?
