For your price range, look for Bass Pro's OEM rod & reel combos. You should give Tourney Special or Extreme Tournament combos a look. Abu and Quantum usually has cheap combos too. Abu's BlackMax is an ok cheap casting reel. Not so sure about Quantum Advantage. I believe it's magnetic break only...

Wash with vinegar AND THEN baking soda (not together) ;) I use heavy detergent tabs for my wetsuit (scuba diving) that works well to get rid of smell. I would think they'll work for waders just the same. You can get some from scuba shops. But really save the $$ and use vinegar in hot water...

Yeah Scugog is pretty shallow. But there are bass and big ones too. Saw a 6-3/4 Lb smallie caught at a tournament earlier this summer. Also fall Muskie spot if you're into that.
