    Bronte Pier Closed

Quite a few people, myself included, have chosen to ignore the signs and go out onto the peer to fish. Yesterday someone told me the police showed up and fined a bunch of people who were out there fishing. The had all summer to repair the ice damage to the catwalk, and Oakville can afford it...

    Bronte Pier Closed

I went a couple days ago to check it out and maybe do some casting to start my quest for a good fight. The west pier is closed to to "unsafe conditions". Looks like some ice damage to the catwalk. You can still fish the east side, but it's going to get crowded over there!

    First time fishing port credit

Last time I was there I parked on the road near the pathway. I was on the west side. I'm not sure you can even fish on the east side, I saw signs saying no fishing along the east wall. Good luck, there are lots of places you and your son could sit with a worm on the bottom and just chat. Lot's...

    Salmon and trout

It might be worth doing some pier casting before it gets light in the morning.

Went to war with this female.

That's a beauty king and a great looking rig to fish from, too.

Went to war with this female.

She's a lot prettier than the female I went to war with.

    Port Dalhousie Browns

There's a guy in the fly tying section who is trying to make a few bucks tying custom flies. Get in touch with him and he'll stock you up with wooly buggers.

    More dollarama deals

I usually keep a few glo bugs in with the spawn bags. Can't hurt.

    More dollarama deals

So I was hanging around Dollarama when some rude old lady started making comments about the women's panties and spouting some rules about not wearing them on my head... or something like that... whatever... so I decided to go and smell all the soaps instead, but on my way over I found some good...

    Survey

I started fly fishing first, in the mid-eighties, then float fishing later, in the early nineties. I think my best pattern for the spring opener was a hares ear, with or without bead head, depending on the flow. In the fall, my favourite pattern by far was the glow bug. Deadly. On the occasion...

    Salmon Run 2017??

Considering polarized glasses can be had pretty cheap, there's no reason not to have a pair.

Port Credit: Salmon “pier” fishing tips for noobs

The Flicker shad's not a very heavy bait. About the same as a shadRap of the same size. They have some weights to help with the cast, but it's not as good as a spoon. But they have a great action, are cheaper than Rapalas and come in quite a few colours.

Port Credit: Salmon “pier” fishing tips for noobs

Pump, I was going to recommend the Williams trophy, I'm using one this year too. For the last couple of years I've had luck with the Berkley Flicker Shad.

    Spoon fishing for creek salmon

Play around with it and see what happens. I've had luck with small spoons and small rapalas on a retrieve down-current just fast enough to keep the action going and off bottom. Jigging deeper holes with a spoon can be effective too. An EGB is a good size and weight, but very expensive. Small...
