Lots on my plate for some time... people around me feelin' it, I was feelin' it... getaway at the end of the week - Saturday. Yeah ok, f- it... I left on Tuesday. Released a lot of stress here.

Wake up for 6 am to set off for my adventure. That plan went to shiz but I did wake up crossed eyed before noon. Who cares, I'm on vacation. On the road - windows down, cruising with the smell of skunk and cheap perfume lingering about - hopefully the skeeters won't like the combination. I almost died portaging in but damn what a welcoming sight.

I was out of energy, couldn't even bring myself to fish. I rested like this guy.

... and ate and ate and ate like this guy.

Tattered and torn...

Shout out to my brothers - the fish were rising that evening.

Naturally, it was an early night. Roger the rabbit tripped me out pretty damn well at night...

Early rise.

Damn the fishing was good this day. The stars aligned for me. Fish were chasing my lure right to the boat, smashing any lure thrown at them with thundering strikes - even had one dummy jump outta the water chasing my spoon and crashed into the side of the canoe. It was fast and furious. A thrilling day and just what I needed. Saw some Don Juan brookies right at the canoe but couldn't get anything of size into the net - life was still damned good.

Next morning they were lounging - damn brookies playing their games. Said screw it, took some photos and rendezvoused with the fam.

The lake is full of forage.

...and some cool plants.

Gathered the troops and went for a hike.

You gonna put that camera away and walk faster anytime soon?

My owner posing for the camera.

Ate like kings and queens ( WARNING : not all fungi pictured are safe to consume ).

This is what smoking does to a face.

Yup - feelin' refreshed. Good for another month.

Bud light lime and stag chili, never mind the fungus thats the real poison right there.

Awesome story bro! Curious to know, which shrooms are actually good to eat?
Top left - mostly king/queen boletes with some slimy jacks mixed in, edible.
Top center brown ones - still trying to get a positive ID.
The single orange one sticking outta the brown ones in the center - wooly chantrelle, edibility questionable.
Top right red ones - some type of russulla which I don't know the exact english name for, edible.
Bottom right - lobster mushrooms. Symbiotic relation between a parasite and a group of russullas ( I think ) which transforms the host mushroom into the orange lobster, edible.
White bowl in the middle - forest ear/jews ear mushroom, edible.
One off yellow one resting against the bowl - golden coral ( could be another species - didn't get a solid ID ) which isn't edible.
Bottom left - chantrelles, edible.

The boletes, lobsters and chantrelles are highly sought after shrooms because they're so delicious. Make sure you double check what mushroom you harvest and want to eat - there are many look alikes that will mess you and your liver up, or make you hang out with Mickey Mouse for half a day and you'll laugh, stare into the distance, laugh some more, laugh even more... which isn't such a bad thing I guess.

More like bear repellant the next morning.

Thanks for the comments folks - get out there into the wild is all I can say

It's probably the Polish in me, but I can confirm boletes are the good stuff I like to forage for and I would seriously beg for a good spot on where to find more of them, *hint, hint*
