13 Fishing and Daiwa reviews?

Hey guys, so recently I've been trying to expand my collection.

Im just curious to see if any has or had the chance to handle a 13 Fishing rod, currently got my eyes on the Omen black series and "maybe" the Envy. Also on the list is the Daiwa Tatula. Looking for a 7" MH/F in the casting version. I am pairing it up with Daiwa Tatula type R reel.

Anyone have good or bad to say about these?

Like I said before, Im just starting to expand my collection and I would like to step into the slightly "higher end JDM" stuff.

All my rods have been Abu and Shimanos and same with my reels. Just trying for something new and exciting.

From every review I read, the 13 Fishing rods are spectacular for the price range.

Just seeing what some of you guys who have fished these stuff has to say.

I haven't heard good things about the Omen, a lot of them coming back for warranty

14 of the original 25 we had at sail came back for warranty. The next run we have had has only seen 2 come back but both were definitely door breaks. I like the feel of the rods, much prefer the envy to the omen but obviously there is a big price difference.

As for the tatula type r I wouldnt bother, the standard tatula is nice but the type r seems to have a few issues. After owning one for a season I got rid of it, drag slipped and once wet almost felt unusable. For that price a lews, revo sx or just waiting for the new citica to be available would be a better option IMHO

Cool thanks for the info. I didn't know the build was so crap for the 13 fishing omen. I just love how it looks and I think its a cool company lol purely why I wanted the rod.

And same for the type R, it;s a great looking reel.

Stay away from the 13 fishing. I like the Tatulas but as IR4J said, not the Type-R Reels. I would recommend a Lews Speed Spool LFS reel. They are solid reels. They remind me of Abu Garcia reels with bigger paddle handles and a smooth drag.

I'm thinking of picking up a type R tomorrow or this week. Sail has them for 169 and they are going on 15% off too this weekend.

Or at least I assume they will be going on sale. Got emails telling me fishing/hunting stuff is going minimum 15% off. Fair price to me for a type R reel that msrp for 199$

Yep Sail has 15% off fishing and hunting from tomorrow to Sunday. Sad to hear these bad reviews about the Omen Black. I really liked the look and feel of it. Was thinking of picking one up. I was thinking the same as you Legomye990 and wanted to try the Tatula too. Although I was looking at the regular one and not the type R.

Yup, I just picked up a 7'1 MH Tatula rod and paired it with a Tatula R reel.

I also picked up a Omen black too, decided might as well give it a try, since it was 15% off at sail. I bought a Vendetta last week, and a bunch of other stuff from Sail, so they gave me a price protection plan and gave me some money back, traded in the Vendetta for a Omen black and paid a couple bucks difference. Not too shabby, Its a great looking rod and it feels good.

What was the price on the Omen and on the Tatula rods? I like the Tatula rod cause it matches my Revo STX with the gold in it. Lol

Ahaha yah the Tatula rod is defiantly a nice rod, I haven't had the chance to test them yet cuz its raining right now, hopefully this weekend i can make use of them.

I bought the Tatula rod from Bass City (Markham) it was 169$

Omen from Sail, If I remember correctly for a 1 piece 100$ and the 2 piece $120 plus its 15% off at the moment too.

if i picked up an FJ reel yesterday and the sale at SAIL starts tomorrow would I be able to go in and get another 15% off even though the reel was on sale for 169 down from 219? or whatever the original price was...?

That's weird. The 15% off sale started yesterday here at the Oshawa Sail. I'm not sure if you could still get the 15% off. I think the Stradic FJ was on clearance and not on sale so you may be able to still get the 15% off.

I think if its regular price and you bought it, you should be able to get a price adjustment. But if it was already clearance, not sure if they will give you 15% off. Don't take my words for it, it doesn't hurt to try
