Caught this on a medium light action 6 foot rod with 6lb finesse line and a white jig.

Gotta love to nail the BEASTS on the lighter set ups.

Makes for an interesting day.

Good Lord! That is a big fish. I can truthfully say I never saw a rod bend so much in fresh water fishing. :)

Me either, ive never seen a fish take off like a dolphin either!
thanks for the kind words everyone. always enjoy the feedback from OFF

Haha brings back memories! its always funner to be "under gunned" as long as you dont fight the fish to death lol...

Heres my pb carp on my 7'6 UL, what a hoot!

Hey Licensetopin, you caught that beast under a bobber? How far was the bait from the bottom?

I was fishing a shallow marsh, note the depth from my float to the bulk shot half way down thats how deep the water was. Basically was sight fishing cast ahead or infront of a group of cruising carp and wait for your float to lift up or go flat, sometimes it will drop but not usually. Was using corn bags...

4lb mono ... 7ft UL rod, only had about 80 yds of line on the reel.

Went from about 100 yds down from the Old Mill dam ... all the way past Bloor Street Bridge.

What a big fish! What were you fishing for when he hit? thanks.

Nice carp. Gotta love ultra light setups for big fish. I have caught a couple monsters on ultra lights, but I have lost my fair share as well, as well as an abundance of tackle, but the fight and the story is sure worth it. Here are a couple photos, one of a carp about 23 lbs caught on 6 lbs test and a 19 lbs salmon caught on 4 lbs test. Both monsters were caught on a 5'6 ultra light rod! Yeeeee ha!
