This is my 40 year old 1968 20hp motor in action, I hit a rock on labour day so it also has a slightly bent prop, and roughly 120(2 d31 batteries) extra #s on the stern.

Not much out there that lasts 40 years so you can at least say you got your monies worth!

Motor sat in my father inlaws basement for 20 years, I only put 14hrs on it so far. I'm hoping it will last a little longer maybe even until I can upgrade to a bigger boat instead of buying a new motor/motor just for this one. The $$ I would spend on a new motor I can put into a bigger boat, only 1 issue it must fit in the garage:(

I had a 1957 johnson 18 horse which I retired about 5 years ago after having too many troubles with it. I bought a new Yamaha 20 horse outboard that has been great. One thing that I am especially glad about is how much less the new motor pollutes. The old motor would leave quite a slick of oil on the water and use a lot more gas.

well i have a 30 year old 18hp merc that was well taken care of, still works great and i cant imagine getting rid of it. Although i could see myself in one of them triton 250's

I'm going to pick up a 83 25hp Johnson this weekend hoping it will perform slightly better then my 68. Hopefully will get to test next weekend.
