6 wt Fetha Styx

Hello all
Recently purchased the 10'8" 6 wt and I am looking for suggestions as to what reel would be a good match for it.
Rod is rated for 180 to 330 grain window..
Anyone else have one of these??

Presumably it will be a med/big game rod? Spend what you can afford. You can't go wrong with any of the big names, Ross, Sage, Hardy etc.

being a 6 wt rod, best size reel would be?

looking to nymph,swing and dry with the set-up

Dont think you can go wrong with the icho ion. Seems everyone is using them these days and at a sub 100$ mark you cant beat them. Maybe get an extra spool for it 1 setup with a running line/shooting head and the other with a switch line?

When I still had my 6wt switch I ran a Lamson konic 4 on it, I think the general rule of thumb is to go 2-3 sizes up so reels in the 8-10 range would be your best bet

Okuma has some nice reels as well !! I have the SLV 10/11 and I'm very happy with it.. Not real flashy bit durable thus far

Please read my response under Islander Reels. IMO the first consideration is that the rod + line balance the rod so it is neither tip nor butt heavy. Anything else will be tiring and a strain on your elbow and forearm.

I have to say that the Fetha styx has gotten nothing but good reviews, good pickup. Wish I could find one.

it was recommended to line it with the wulff ambush, or the switch chucker..

use which ever line you like best, when they recommend a certain brand, it usually means they have a partnership with them

the switch chucker is a great line a short head switch line thats what id go with

wulf ambush has won a lot of awards, I have been wanting to line a rod with it for a while. I would consider it more spey oriented opposed to a single hand line fore a switch rod.

Ambush lines are great for single hand & switch applications. Really shines when you don't have much room for a back cast. I use an Ambush for a light switch setup (skagit style casts) & can toss it out there pretty good, even though the line is a bit light for my rod (generally 2-3 line sizes up for switch/spey applications is recommended).

In the summer, I use it for single hand 6wt spey style casting. Great for touch and go streamer fishing looking for big fish as I can single hand spey cast it as far as a few double hauls. Haven't done much dry fly fishing with it as it's not as delicate as classic double tapers.

Probably not the line for everyone but I have a shoulder problem & it really helps take some of the strain off my casting shoulder by allowing me to spey cast/roll cast to good distances with not much effort. Oh yeah, you can bomb it out there with a regular fly cast as well! Awesome lines!

Just got delivery of the reel I decided on..went with a red truck diesel 7/8..
Super sweet ,classic looking click and pawl
Balances the rod really well..going to line it with a switch chucker #4
Can't wait woohoo!!
Our cat Lou likes it too hahahaha
