Great pics!!!! Walleye close up look really cool.
Anyone saying walleye have no fight has never caught big walleye, IMHO.
Big walleye (ie 28" +) roll, run, jump etc. They will test any anglers ability to keep the hook in, trust that.
and yes, I've caught plenty of 10lb + walleye, not just talkin smack, lol
Truth be told, I have caught 1 10lb+ giant in my life, out of a river.
My first thought was that I had definitely hooked a beaver. I freaked out a little bit and I was even a little scared. After horsing it around a little bit (the pool was at least 10 feet deep), I saw the head and eyes and realized, holy crap, it's a walleye! It fought, but nothing compared to a steelhead or salmon. I landed it on 10lb mono not long after, and as I was beaching it, it flopped and snapped the leader. I grabbed it, but it was too big and flopped back in the river. At that point I went to go grab my net from my car, because even though I technically landed it, it sucked not being able to take a pic so I wanted to be able to net my next one.
When I returned, I saw my mepps and thought, at least I can recover my spinner. Lo and behold, the mepps was still attached to the leader, and actually hanging out of the fishes mouth! The thing was so giant, I didn't even realize this at first, it just looked like underwater structure (this was at night). I attempted to scoop it up with my net, but it had already rested enough and took off - I don't think it was going to fit very easily into that net anyhow.
I have also heard that walleye can fight harder out of different lakes. I've caught small walleye out of pike waters, and I thought it was a pike until I got a real close look after landing it. But the rivers I fish, compared to the bass and pike, I can usually tell I have a walleye on the line because they tend to feel lifeless.
