So, I think I'm hooked. Been ice fishing a few times over the years but never really got into it... looks like this year will be the year I'm officially taking up ice fishing. Ive figured out the fish finder, now I gotta figure out how to get those rising fish to bite  Lakers, brookies and splake here I come :D

That's the fun of it. You begin a new fishing type and it is a whole new world. Lots to learn, experience, and enjoy. Life-long learning

Isn't that the truth... its so much more than just the actual number of fish caught.

Awesome! I think I know what I'll be doing with my dust collecting aventa now

Yup lots more to fishing than hitting the rivers.

The pin while ice fishing though... Guess if you want the extra challenge...

Nice, I love the pin on the ice idea! Id say the pin could actually improve your landing ratio with the extra control on the drag.

Um, if that's your catch, just to the left of the hole, I suggest you use larger bait.

 I know nothing about ice fishing, just whatever my old man will teach me... he used to fish Simcoe years ago with pearls, spoons and copper wire threaded onto a bare hook, I guess he knows whats up. His buddies were on the minnows, saying the fish are lazy and prefer the smaller meals over the larger ones, I guess thats why we didn't catch anything over two pounds  What got me so into it was that a guy pulls up with his truck, bores a 10 inch hole, pulls out a sucker thats about a foot long, rams a couple of hooks into it and down it goes... and here I sit, with my 6" hole and 2" minnow, maybe 2.5" if you pull on it, fishing for the same species... he was saying the lakers get 20 + lbs there. He was also telling me a story that he was in a hut and somewhere on the lake... the ice fell/moved, displaced water and the water came gushing out of his hole enough that it hit his roof... soaked him and everything else in the hut

Gotta say though, the thunder like sound ice makes when it shifts/cracks will take some time to get used to

I ice fish every year here and I will never get used to the sound of shifting ice. I have also seen the crack go right through my legs as the ice shifted. With almost 30" of ice I know I am safe but I still dislike it!

I was gonna ask you if you put that kit together yourself for the graph or if you picked something up.

I found it on the lowrance website. Mind if I asked what it ran you? I already have the graph
