Abu Garcia Black Max Combo

ive heard good things about this combo and for 70$ i think its better than spending 200 for a quantum exo. What do you guys think ? And how big of a fish could i bring in with this, a salmon ? Thanks guys

black/silver max works good. I have silver max and it work good. Pretty powerful drag.

Why do you doubt its ability to bring in a salmon? I hope you arent going to spool it with your 60lb braid again.

lol why not ?? i use thicker braid on my casters so it dosent dig into the spool, im fine with 15lb mono or 4lb fluro for salmon, the reason i was asking because its meant for bass and didnt want to over strain it, but any way thanks for the info

Digging into spool is caused by setting the drag too tight and/or reeling in the line with slack. Has nothing to do with line lb.
I spooled mine with 20lb braid and it never dug into spool.

as long as you spool on the bottom 75-80% of the spool as tight as possible...

rock hard, meaning you press the line and it feels like a rock.
nothing will dig in and youll have no issues 90% of the time.

I dont usually use anything less than 65 lbs braid for my bass fishing. I also use 12 lbs fluoro for my crankbait setup. As for salmon I have never put on a baitcaster anything less than a 12 fluoro so I can not give you much advice. Mono causes a lot of backlash and I just don't like it.

got the same problem, i guess cuz the braid grabs its self more than the mono which then birdsnests

Stick to a braid with a fluorocarbon lead or just straight fluorocarbon.
