So i was looking at picking up a new rod for jigs,tubes,topwater...etc...etc. What i want to know is, have any of you had experience with EXTRA FAST action rods. I was thinking of Medium or Medium heavy power at around 6'6 to 7' rod.

Would you all recommend a EXTRA FAST action rod for the aboved mentioned fishing techniques. Also what else would it be good for?

Thank you for input or advice you all have.

Buck covered it. I wouldn't suggest it though man. That kind of fishing is annoying cause you have to clean off your jig every cast.

Yep. Im just too lazy

An extra fast action rod is great for all those techniques, specifically for jigs and tubes. The faster the taper of the rod the more sensitive it will be. I recommend a medium power 8-12 or 6-10, one piece, 7'. St.Croix makes the best bass rods around in my opinion and you'd be hard pressed to find a better value then they're Legend Tournament line. Not they're most expensive rods, nor they're cheapest but you definitely get what you pay for with these things, wouldn't trade them for anything. Plus a no questions asked lifetime warranty also helps to seal the deal. Pair it up with a decent 2500 size reel and some 20lb power pro, you've got yourself a deadly weapon for a variety of techniques.

I would never use a medium power rod for fishing heavy cover. A heavy rod is what you need around 7-7'11 ft. Make sure you have a fast retrieving gear ratio like a 7.1:1 if you use baitcasters. Reason being is because you want to be able to gather that slack line you have and set the hook.

Where did he mention heavy cover? Not everyone is into fishing thick slop for gullible largemouth. But hey, if your idea of an all round great outfit is a FLIPPING stick, then by all means use whatever floats your boat.
