Got off a little early from work today and decided to head out to my local trib knowing I had a good half hour to one hour or so of decent daylight left.

Pool is nice and deep but is very slow. Painful to drift, as it takes forever.
Had about 3-4 ft of visibility. Not the best conditions, but 4lb flouro lead will do the trick.

I start at the tail end and cast into the deeper water.
Float shoots down on my first drift and I was into a nice scrappy buck.
I didn't have my landing net on me and also was not wearing waders. I apologize for the pics of the fish on the rocks. But I did the best I could to make sure the fish was fine and didn't flop around while I landed it, took pictures, unhooked, and released it.

It was a decent fight with a lot of thrashing and runs, so the tail end was spooked for sure. Especially with how clear and slow the water was.

I did a few more drifts and knew I had to move with the limited light left.

Made my way to the head of the pool and first drift once again results in a very aggressive take.
This time, I could see that it was another coloured buck. It cleared the water... very surprising for January.
It was a great battle. Even had me wrapped up in submerged wood for a while. Thankfully I managed to free it.
This one took it really deep, almost swallowing the hook entirely.

Once again, I took some pics before releasing.

It wasn't until I got home and reviewed the pics on my phone that I realized that these two were in fact the same fish.
Mind blown LOL.
I didn't even consider them being the same at all while I was on the river. Mostly because it fought so much harder the second time.
Usually when this happens, the fish just comes in with no fight the second time around.
Weird!

i've had a few of those outting where i've cought the same fish 2wice, like u said weird thing was the fish fought better secod time around  nice colours on that buck between.

FROZEN: Awesome...
I've had that experience also--go figure. One hungry fish. Sweet report and just bloody great that we can still find open water!!

Nice Pics!

I'd still count it as (2) Catches.....

You make me wonder about my outing of Friday Night.

All (3) of mine "looked" exactly the same and were spaced about 30 mins appart.

Since it was night, and I could only bring them up to the snowbank/ice shelf .... couldnt get them real close to see .... but the thought was there.

At the time I "Discounted it" thinking: no way .... not Three times for the same fish.

??? Makes me wonder.

Anyway, great post!

way to go. I have been kicking myself for not being able to go out, just to many family obligations and work. When it finally does slow down for me and I can go, there will be a deep freeze and I'll be out of luck!

Nice report Frozen Fire , I often check the spot pattern on fish that seem simular , it's a good thing you had both pics lined up on the same side for a positive I.D.. The days are getting a little bit longer and the fish are gearing up for spawning , they'll pig out and then they'll spawn .

It felt bgger the second time around because you were tired out from fightng it the first time ;)

I've had that happen as well, with a male.

Had this fish rght nearly beached, it turned around once more, I had the brakes on full and snap goes the leader. 10 minutes later, I pull out a fish wth my hook, roe bag, and leader hanging from its mouth, was a good sized buck.
