Hello O.F.F and to all the members!

My name is Jay I areside now in Brampton On. I initally joined this forum back in 2009. Sudden change in life I ended up living down in Florida (where I was able to fish all the time, fresh and salt water) but soon found out I had my first child on the way as well my sister was going to have a baby as well.
Moved back up here and the last 2 years have been to say the least busy.

We are amidst planning a wedding, looking for a new house, raising and 2 a half year old and trying to keep up with day to day life.

Needless to say, my son now is at the age where he will stay with his grandparents or even sleep overs with freinds. This mean for me MORE TIME FOR FISHING!!!!!

We had a 18' boat, which was sold since I wasnt completely comfortable baoting with adults and sure as heck wasnt taking an infant out with us. We do still have 2 jet skis and an ATV. This past winter we descided to purchase a project (of course with my hidden agenda) We bought a 10' pop up camping trailer. It did need a bit of work, but I am good with 120 and 12v electrical. Well our goal was to have this complete in time for the season opener (honestly should come as a suprise to anyone on here) .

My hidden agenda was to have this completed. We should be able to river and lake fish alot more and I can present it in a "Economically friendly way" for me to get out more. I am blessed that my son does enjoy outdoors and has NO FEAAR of water. We did get him his first fishing rod, one of those novelity ones from Crappy tire, last year I did take him out to island lake and let him "expirence" fishing while pulling in a sun fish with him LOL!

I do look forward to re-joining the boards now as a proud parent but also a long over due fishermen.

We do alot of fishing from Pike to salmon, river and lake fishing. We have alot of different set ups from 5' rod/reel combos to my 12' noodle rod. Even my saltwater 1 piece rigs.

Wow sounds like you've got a thing or two going on man haha!

Please tell me you took advantage of the world class bassn they have down in Florida!

Welcome, look forward to learning from your experiences. Cheers

Thank you!

I doid have a chance to fish in back waters and swamps for bass, hoenstly became like shooting a fish in a barrel. I did catch a couple 10+ lbs bass. The highlight of my fishing in Florida came in Salt water for Tarpon, Marlin and even a couple sharks. Fresh water, it was very interesting pulling in an Alligator gar, which I have never heard of before catching it. Agressive fish, like a pike but faster and alot leaner.
Peacock bass was another interesting catch, never knew what those were eaiter. Caught lots of blue gill, talapia and bass on almost every outting. I even kept a rod in the trunk of my car!

If traffic was too heavy or I had a couple extra minutes I would find a lake/pong/wet area and throw a line. I do not remeber being Skunked very often. If you are down in Florida I would advice anyone in the Tampa area to look up the Skyway bridge fishing pier. Amazing catches from an old bridge. As well the off shore charters during the week from Daytona beach are very reasonable. WEekends thier prices tripple.

wow I have no words...10 lb Bass...I can only imagine the fun!

I'm sure the saltwater fishing took the cake but the first place you'd find me is in the freshwater swamps and deltas lol.

Thank you SmackUm!

Swamps and Deltas are cool to fish but also very scary when you hear the brush start to move. Alot of the swaps are only accessable by those airboats. Florida is said to have alot of untouched lakes/bodies of water that hold 20lbs bass. Have I ever seen one, no. But its like local legend of a couple around the Tampa area.

This year we are are all geared up for the Trout opener. My wife has decided to join me, she does enjoy lake fishing has been pretty successful with Bass, perch and even a couple larger pike 30"+.

My dad and I have been fishing together since I was about 4-5 and its a tradition i want to now pass down to my son.

I am sure I will have something back for the boards after this weekend. WE sholdbe fishing a local water way for Salmon.

WELCOME! You sound awesome! :D

10+ lb bass, now that will put a bend in your rod! :D

Looking forward to learning tons from you!

Thank you!
Likewise I look forward to learning from all of you as well!!!

10+lbs bass are pretty common id say 1/3 that you catch are darn near 10lbs, this of corse in in back waters. Heavily fished ares you get the normal 3-5lbs.

Welcome to the forum Ijay. every parts of the world have their best areas. You will learn a lot in this forum as we have so much areas that are abundant (depending on what fish you target). Enjoy whatever we have here for you. Looking forward to hear from your experiences. And if you like pike...I have a "secret" hole that everybody knows...

Thanks rich!! Please send me some details if you dont mind! It will remain a close gaurded secret with me!
