The mouth of the river is pretty wide and practically a harbour. The marina is upstream from there so no worries about boat traffic.

So are you allowed to fish the mouth as long as you stay out of the way of incoming and outgoing boats?

I use an inflatable with small troller so I would do this on a calm day.

Good luck! In an inflateable anytime anything bigger than a canoe passes by you, your gonna go for a ride!

There are a couple pics from in August someone catching bass and pike in the mouth!

Thanks.

Is there a speed limit before you pass the breakers and hit the big lake? If there is and boats pay attention then I should be fine on my flat bottom boat I assume.

I took my boat on to Penetang Harbour 10 days ago and didn't have a problem. But this was nearer the marina with slower moving boats. The other marina there tends to have more power boats.

It is a no wake zone however it is VERY difficult to navigate without a bit of speed. Between the wind and water current. This is expirence speaking. I have my 20' bowrider in there, its actaully where I learned to navigate my boat. From OPP boats to the larger (30'+ boats) that go thru there, there is more than a ripple left behind em.

If I would you I would stay on the inside of the lakeshore bridge. (closer to the library and such.)

cool.

i took my boat up there once from the rowing club to past the qew where it gets shallow at the golf club. nice scenery. saw a bunch of deer. literally within 15 feet of me just looking at me in the water. didn't catch that day. was aiming for bass or pike. would be cool to catch a nice fish and take a pic with the qew and a bunch of trucks in the background.

might try it again this weekend for the hell of it.

RAnge was 5' max I remeber seeing was 20'. Just keep in mind I NEVER went past the lakeshore bridge. There were ALOT of fish that would come up on my fish finder in there, matter a fact I remeber seeing schools of fish. My fish finder was set to beep on hear anythign in the mouth there were a couple days in teh summer it would be a steady ring instead of a beep bc of the amount of fish.

Ah I miss my boat! Maybe I can get another over the summer!
