Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that rod work fine with a pin. Now that I think of it. I think it's what I have.

will definitely work. the only thing with the rod is it's heavier compared to the fenwick hmx, streamside tranq and most of the higher end rods. but it will do the job. no need to fix something if it works. I always encourage using what you have before spending more $$$.shimano Convergence is a workhorse.

I never seem to land a fish that's up to a photo. Always a battle to get it to pose.
